You spend countless months searching for the perfect prom dress. Everywhere you look there is one (maybe even two or three) dresses that have caught your eye. But none of them is ever 'THE' dress. If only you could take the flirtiness of that one and add the sexiness of this one, it’ll be perfect…but if custom making the dress is out of the question, then this will be impossible.
Just as you are ready to give up the frantic search, you come across this amazing dress (and it couldn’t have come at a better time). You are happy as can be and can hardly wait to show it off. Yet you manage to fight those urges, and keep the dress a surprise from everyone.
The day of your prom, you take the morning to pamper yourself; hair, nails, the whole nine. Once your look is complete, you slip on your dress and look awesome! Everything seems perfect, until you get to the prom and you see another girl wearing your exact dress!

What do you do? Do you make a big deal about it (after all, your months of hard work have just gone down the drain) or do you pretend you didn’t notice and make the best out of the night?
Believe it or not, you’re not the only person this has happened to…this sort of thing happen to celebrities all the time. We’ve all seen it: different celebrities wearing the same dress! What matters is not the fact that it’s the same dress…it’s who wears it better.
Remember 9 out of 10 times accessories make an outfit. Think about it, you can walk into a store and purchase tons of clothes (the same clothes as everyone else), its how you choose to wear them that determines how fashionable and unique they become.
When in doubt:
* ACCESSORIZE – OWN YOUR STYLE. Look for unique accessories that will complete the look of the dress. Be unique and don’t be afraid to try something different.
* PERFECT FIT – Make alterations to the dress to ensure a perfect fit. A nip here, or a tuck there should give the finishing touches.

Sonia’s Bridal makes custom dresses for prom where you are in control of the design, fabric, color, etc. But custom designed gowns are not your only option. Many years ago we introduced an exclusive prom program. Purchase any prom dress from Sonia's Bridal and we will NOT sell the same dress to the same school. Our prom program reduces the chances of girls wearing the same dress at prom.
Helpful hints to look for when searching for a prom dress (in order to avoid a double take):
- Fun colors: be bold, make a statement
- Unique cuts: stray away from trendy and gravitate towards what fits your personality the most
- "Just in case” kit: carry some extra accessories, even maybe a cute printed scarf that can be worn as a sash. The simplest things can transform an outfit.
Sincerely,
Denisse P.
